The 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin saw a TASS-supported athlete return an Olympic medal for the first time after Shelley Rudman won silver in the women’s skeleton event.
TASS athletes and alumni won a total of 22 medals at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. Swimmer Liam Tancock had a particularly successful competition, claiming the gold medal in the 100m backstroke, silver in the 50m backstroke and another silver as a part of the men's 4x100m medley relay.
